The New York Yankees held a tribute on Saturday honoring the 50th anniversary of Roger Maris' 61-home run season. Yes, there was a Mississippian on that 1961 Yankees team: Silver City native and Ole Miss alumnus Jack Reed, who played in 28 games as an outfielder, often being used as Mickey Mantle's defensive replacement.
